ESET Online Scanning is a free, user-friendly tool that allows you to search and eliminate malware through your web browser. There is no security software to be installed. It employs the same ThreatSense (r) technology and malware Signatures as ESET NOD32 and ESET Smart Security security software, and is regularly updated. The first time you use it, it could take a while for the scanner to download and update its signature database, but subsequent scans are much quicker.
After a thorough scan all discovered threats are listed on the Found & detected screen, along with their names, locations, and the option to here are the findings either Clean Now or quarantine them for a later analysis. You can then choose to eliminate the threat completely from your PC or simply quarantine them depending on your preference. You can make a backup of all the quarantined files if you are concerned about data loss.
It’s not as powerful an antivirus program as those that are paid, but it is more secure than online checkers because the virus and malware database is updated more frequently.
